Maria Sundin

The picture above (left), showing two interacting galaxies, was taken with the Hubble Space Telescope by a group of astronomers including myself. Read about the facts. The photo in the middle is taken by Göran Olofsson. The photo above (right) show me and my horse.

Welcome!

I am a docent in theoretical physics and employed as a university lecturer at the Institute of Physics at Göteborg University. The main parts of my job consists of teaching astronomy and physics, doing research on galaxies and (soon) exoplanets. I am also starting a research group in Equine Science. Apart from this, I also do a lot of public outreach I´m very interested in the interdisciplinary aspects of astronomy.

If you want to get in touch with me, here are some suggestions:

You can find a lot of information about my popular courses in astronomy, as well as links to astronomy sites here (in Swedish): Courses in Astronomy.

My research (to be updated) is on computer simulations of galaxies and exoplanets. Here is a short description of our new research on Equine Science.

My published papers can be found here and at Göteborg University database GUP

This is a list of my talks and appearances in the media in 2011 and here is the list for 2012 so far (in Swedish).

Interdisciplinary projects

In November 2011 I gave a talk with the title "Water - a necessity for life on Earth and other planets" for TEDx University of Gothenburg. You can find my talk here .

On Facebook I have a group called Maria Sundins orienteringskurser i astronomi where I write about news on the sky, my courses, my media appearances and other suitable astro-connected stuff. Please, join the group if you want to!
